A few weeks ago I decided to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. It was nice weather, a bit chilly, but I knew the longer I waited to see it the colder it would be. After a year living here I still hadn't made time to visit this iconic structure, and as we crept closer to 2012 I felt the push one Saturday to play tourist and see what all the fuss was about. As it turned out there really were quite a bit of people who had made the same decision that day, and the bridge walkways were full of men, women, and children enjoying their weekend afternoon above the East River. Outside of work, I spend most of my free time in Manhattan and Brooklyn, so I thought it appropriate to represent the literal bridge between two of my favorite boroughs.

The bridge was completed in 1883 (fun fact - the same year Wagner College was founded!) and was the longest suspension bridge in the world at that time.

Sunset over the New York Harbor. See the helicopter and the Statue of Liberty?

It's definitely a great historic sight to see, you can't beat the views from it at sunset, and walking West really gives you some great views of the city. However, I would strongly suggest going on a weekday if you can...
